Greece was very different than all the other ancient civilizations. It was hot and dry, and as you can see in the map bellow,it has jagged land. The Ionian Sea and The Aegean Sea was their oceans, popular mostly because of trade. Greece did not have very fertile soil either. It was very hard to grow a variety of plants in the soil but the Greeks did not give up. They grew wheat, barely, olive trees and grape vines. The grape vines and olive trees were very popular in Greece mostly because that was the only types of food they could grow. It is very interesting that the Greeks were able to embrace their culture because they understood that their land was different and a hard place to sustain even with the hot and dry weather. If I lived there in that time it would be very hard to live because it was so hot. I wonder if they had air conditioning?
